For Immediate Release:
October 15th, 2003
Moon Racing / PTK driver Justin Moon has been putting in some practice time in his brother Benny's ICC package. After sucseesful tests where he was able to come within a couple 10ths of his brother Benny's times, Justin set out to try a few races. The 125-Swedetech ICC is much more powerful than the 80cc package he has been competing in for the last few years but Justin seems to be adapting quickly.
Justin's first race came at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma,CA where he finished a respectable 8th out of some 18 drivers. The entry list was made up of some big names including, Tom Dyer, Alex Speed, Bret Buckwalter and Gary Carlton. Justin made his trademark rocket starts, picking up a few spots, but then lost them as he "experimented" with the difference in power.
Next was a local club race at Prairie City where he finished second in the first heat race and won the second heat. He failed to start the main due to a clutch failure. Still he gaine more valuable experience. The most recent was the 2nd round of the "Nor-Cal Fall Classic" held at the famous NNKC Reno Nevada track. Champ Car stand out and Karting Star Memo Gidley was roaming the pits and stopped by to give Justin some welcome encouragement. Justin Qualified 3rd with a 47.0 which was pretty good considering the 1st and 2nd qualifiers also had a time of 47.0. First qualifier was J.J. Mcternin, second was Nick Green. Justin finished 4th in the main and came away with more valuable experience.
This weekend October 18th and 19th Justin will be returning to Infineon for the Russell Racing Series.
Justin will then be competing in the SKUSA Super Nationals this November in the S1 class using TM Swedetech Power and a PTK Long Beach Chassis. Justin is hoping for a top five finish which would be awsome for his first "National" event as a senior driver!
