As the saying goes the 3rd time is a charm. After starting his season in the NASCAR Western Late Model Series at Altamont with 2 DNFs Benny finishes his first race in 3rd palce!
The first race of the season in May was looking to be a great one for Benny. He had qualified 10th out of 22 with a front grip problem. The Bill McAnally Racing Team "BMR" made a chang before the main and Benny went from 10th to 3rd. A yellow flag brought about a restart. Unfortunatley the officials lined the field up with 3 lappers mixed in with the top 3. This brought the expected results. A crash in turn 4 took Benny into the wall and his fantastic run was over!
The second race of the season May 28th ended in qualifying when the rear end in Benny's number 10 blew. The team tried to bandaid the car together but Benny made only one lap in the main and he was through.
Finally on June 4th Ben qualified 3rd in his 3rd start. As the green flag flew Ben blew past the competition as they came out of turn 2. He gapped 2nd place by about 4 car lengths and held on to the lead for 20 laps. Ryan Philpott passed Benny and would eventualy win the race. During a restart Ben was passed by the number 31 car. Although Ben was able to hang with the front two he never could regain positions and finished a well earned 3rd.
Bill McAnally Raceing is a driver developement team for Richard Childress Racing. Benny's next race is this Sunday June 11th. Stay Tunned!
