At the first race of the season Jr. 1-2cycle driver Jimmy Moon finished a very strong third out of a field of 15. Jimmy finished a few inches from the rear bumper of the second place finisher, and almost a half a straightaway ahead of the rest of the feild! Prairie City Club race #1 had an excellent turn out with around 140 entries. This was Jimmy's first race of the season after numerous practice and test days at the track during the winter "off" season. As one of the youngest in his class at eight years old Jimmy is hoping for continued sucsess this season!
The next stop was the first IKF race of the season at Dixon California. The results were not as the Moon Racing Team had hoped as Jim was involved in a incident in the first lap of the main event. Jimmy had started a dissapointing 8th in the main and went from 8th to 4th in the first turn. Three turns later two karts in front of him collided into one another and as Jim was passing the incident one of the karts T-boned the side of his kart sending Jimmy into the center of the infield. Jimmy rejoined the race in 9th place and had moved up to 7th when he was given a black flag for "entering the track in a different location than he had been punted off at". He was upset but perked up after a few minutes with his scooter and skate board.
Next was The IKF at Atwater, California. With no practice the week before due to the local IKF rules and never racing at this track before Jim was at a big disadvantage. He made the best of it and qualified 9th out of 15. He finished 6th in the heat race and started eighth for the main. He held eighth for the entire main event as he tried lap after lap to pass the kart in front of him but was continuously blocked.
