Last Official Test and Justin Sets Fastest Lap of The Day!: Moon and Soulet lead Gelles Racing at CMP

Front Royal, April 19, 2005. � Formula BMW USA teams held their last mandatory testing at Carolina Motorsport Park this weekend with 21 drivers taking to the track for the last time prior to the start of season in two weeks at Laguna Seca. All cars were subject to scrutineering by the BMW USA technical staff; transponders were distributed to all the participants as a dry run in advance of the first race. Gelles Racing had four drivers completing their pre-season program and working with engineers Trygve Rangen and Cristian Kissling. This time, two Gelles drivers went out to set the best times. California rookie and BMW scholar Justin Moon mastered the 2.235-mile, 15-turn facility ahead of stablemate Maxime Soulet from Belgium finishing Saturdays three timed sessions positions 1 and 2 respectively according to BMW USA unofficial posted times. Both drivers anticipate the start of the season at the end of the month.

�What a way to end our training camp! beamed team owner Bob Gelles. Justin (Moon) was outstanding this weekend, coming back from challenging sessions at VIR. Maxime (Soulet) remained strong every time out: he is the kind of driver that always comes out to perform. And remember he has to learn every track like any rookie. I�m also happy with Darin (Marcus). His work off the track reflects on his performances and I think he will soon bridge the gap with the front-runners. Newcomer Canadian Ryan Campbell is improving steadily after joining us less than two weeks ago in Virginia. His attitude is very positive and finished Sunday with very respectable times.�

NASA before Laguna

Teams will remain busy next week while preparing the cars for the first double header in California. Justin Moon and Darin Marcus will spend the weekend at the NASA Camp in Alabama for a special physical evaluation for the BMW scholars and E & C Program participants. �The BMW program is very professional, adds Gelles. Officials follow each scholar and E & C driver in every aspect of their budding-racing career. When those young men move on to another series, they will be proud of their BMW heritage. I long to see what Justin will do in Laguna Seca: this is what he calls his home track and he will turn 17 just two days before the race.�
