October 6,2002 Justin earns SKUSA National number 10
Justin Moon Finishes 8th at World Finals after lap traffic incident!
Jr. 80cc driver Justin Moon had some heart breaking incidents during the SKUSA World Finals at Norman Oklahoma!
Starting off his World Finals weekend with a top five position in the (Formula One) style qualifying, Justin set his personal fast time on the first hot lap, which kept the time on the tires very low. This would set Justin up very well for the pre-final. The first three drivers were able to pull away from the field as the battle for forth was highly contested. Justin was in fifth and doing a great job working on fourth and pushing the abilities of the brakes going into turn one. The pack started to catch up with the third place kart and began to put pressure on both spots. Justin had moved into fourth and was heading for third. Going down the straight, Justin was helped by the 5th place kart as they drafted past third, unfortunately the help needed to stop about about 25 feet sooner. Justin ended up going off the end of the straight and into the grass. He kept the motor going got back on the track in about 10th place. He was able to make a few passes before the checkerd flag and endeded up seventh. Justin was moved to sixth when the officialls docked the driver who had assisted Justin off the track.
Starting sixtth for the main Justin was driving great moving quickly into fourth. Gaining ground on third, Justin then started to go through lap traffic, and eventually a lapper turned into Justin in turn one (not a favorable spot for Justin this weekend). Once again Justin recovered however this time he was eighth were he eventually finished. After all the heartbreak this series has given Justin, the season still ended on a good note. Justin can now wear the Jr. 80 National number 10 . Only ten national numbers are given by SKUSA in the Jr. 80 class, Justin and his team are excited to recieve this honor!
